How To Draw a Sword
Do you want to know how to draw a sword? Well, here you go! This is a sword I sketched in a short amount of time, and you can draw it too. It is really a simple broad sword, but I added curves and decoration to it. A sword might have looked like this in Medieval Warfare. The curves could be used make parring troublesome for the attacker, and the hilt would be used to protect the hand. The sheath would be very tricky to design. It would be a hard sword to forge, but it is an easy sword to draw.Step 1: Draw a sphere with a curve at the end, in which a long handle sprouts. Draw a curved rectangle for the hilt. Add two spikes at the end of each side of the hilt, going toward the handle of the sword. Draw a long, straight blade coming out of the middle of the hilt. Draw a line coming down the middle of the blade, which ends when the end of the blade shortens into it's sharp spot.
Step 2: Add curved lines on the handle, which gives it a comfortable and cool look. Add decorative lines on the hilt, and maybe a jewel or two. Draw star-like shapes on the end of the hilt-spikes to make the hilt look even better. Erase several of the blade's edges and add sharp looking curves.
Step 3: On the sphere near the handle, add shading and two white circles to make it look shiny. Add more decorative lines on the hilt, and shade it the handle. Try and make a dark shadow shade the blade, so you have a line of shade stretching across the blade, slowly fading. On the areas that have no shade, add a very light shade. Darken the edges of the blade, and shade in that as well. You can add extra parts to this sword once you are done. You are now finished with your sword!
Optional: I did not color this, for I feel that it ruins the realistic effect. If you do not feel this way, feel free to color it. You do not have to follow these extra instructions, but this is how I could color the sword.
Color the sphere gold, and lightly color the white spots of it gold as well. Color the handle navy blue, and try keeping the shade effect. Color the hilt the same color as the sphere, and darken the decorative lines if they fade. Color the jewels on the hilt ruby red, to make the sword look more expensive and precious. Color the blade silver, and still try and keep the shading effect. If you added extra sword parts, be creative and color them your best.
Write your name, the date, and your age on the corner of the paper, so you can remember it later on. You are now officially done with your sword drawing!
Thats cool that there were a lot of curves and edges to a sword. Nice Job!
